Harris and Uhl Bolster Elites for 2016

Uhl and HarrisGreen Line Velo welcomes John Harris and Meredith Uhl to the men’s and women’s elite squads. Both riders bring a wealth of experience racing at the regional and national levels. Furthermore, both riders are widely respected by teammates and competitors alike in the New England racing circuit.
“Johnny and Meredith are both incredibly talented and have been friends of Green Line Velo for many years,” said elite captain Cole Archambault. “I’m 100% confident that their talents, experience, and humility will be immediate assets to the team.”
Meredith, formerly of Farm Team Elite Women’s Racing, won the 2014 Massachusetts State Road Race Championship, was 8th at the 2014 Thompson Criterium of Doylestown, and won the Cat 2 omnium at the Intelligentsia Cup in 2015. Meredith joins fellow elite-level Green Line Velo women Leslie Lupien, Regina Legge, and Tonia Hafner for a run at success on the regional and national stages.
“Right now, we’re really focused on New England Criterium Week and the Longsjo Classic,” said Uhl. “We also want to have a good showing at the Women’s Woodstock Grand Prix and Bear Mountain Classic.”
The current Cat 1/2 women also plan to work hard for the Cat 3 women like Natasja Brooijmans and Senta Burton who are closing in on their Cat 2 upgrades, with an eye to eventually fielding a full squad in USA Cycling Pro Road Tour races.
John Harris, who comes to GLV from the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program (CCAP), brings a stage racing background to a traditionally criterium-focused GLV squad. Harris’s palmares include podiums at the NY Capital Region Road Race and the notoriously difficult Tokeneke Classic Road Race, as well as respectable general classification results at races such as Tour of the Catskills and Green Mountain Stage Race.
“Despite our emphasis on the criterium, we’re always looking to excel in new areas. High finishes in local races such as Tour of the Hilltowns, Lake Sunapee, Quabbin, and others is now a possibility with John aboard,” said Archambault. Harris is also committed to the men’s team goal of a podium finish in a national-level criterium and plans to rub elbows with the best of the best in green and black.
John opened his season on February 27 at the Bat City Classic in Austin, TX where he mixed it up in the field sprint, scoring a top-10. Meredith will begin her 2016 campaign at Grant’s Tomb in New York City on March 12.
