2022 Thompson Grand Prix

June 22, 2022

We put on a clinic tonight. There were only 10 or so people in both races. It made for intimate, surgey, and weird racing but I really liked it. Max and I traded attacks and covering throughout the circuit race. Nothing really stuck or was very threatening, but it definitely stung the others and some folks got dropped. It slowed down during the last two laps which helped a lot. I intercepted the CCNS jr rider to take front after trading with him into the last 1/4 of the finishing lap and jumped hard once Max yelled, "hit it!" as we started to get swarmed. First place!

I was absolutely pooped in the points race. I couldn't sprint well, felt it during the first two primes. Didn't matter much because Max SOLO'D OUT THERE FOR MOST OF THE RACE AND WON EVERYTHING! I was politely disruptive back in the field and made lots of friends. The rest of the group definitely wanted to bring him back but couldn't figure out how. I thought the resting would help me sprint towards the end but I really didn't have any effort left and sprinted in the saddle at the finish like a geriatric.
